Stonehenge Spring

Age Group: Adult
Green are the fields and purple the heather,
Birds' song soon heralds the coming of Spring;
Sun's rays giving the warmest of weather;
Comes now the Earth's joy, and all that it brings.
I run 'cross the hilltops, chase the South wind,
Shout love to the heavens, though all alone;
Revel in laughter and sorrow rescind,
Dance among rings of great gray Druid stone.
If thick fog roll in and cover the moors,
I'll hide in the mist, and play a wee game;
Like children or fae, who creep through our doors,
Though one part may change, the whole is the same.
Though some people want a wide world to roam,
I'd rather claim this green land for my home.
Author's Notes: No flames...I -know- Stonehenge wasn't built by the Druids. But I wrote this poem when I was much younger and fluffier (probably a good 15 years ago) , and I still like the rhyme scheme.
