The Light of the Darkness

When light fades and darkness comes, I know my time here is done,
I look back into the past, into the memories I cannot grasp.
The life I’ve lived the life I’ve lost, is it all a dream or all for naught.
Things I’ve done, things I’ll never do, one thing remains clear,
One thing stays true, in the light, in the sun that’s where love should be done.
For in the dusk and in the night a person’s love can be turned to blight.
Silence is heard, thoughts are formed, waiting for light, waiting to be reborn.
I wait for dawn, I wait for love, and I wait for any sign from above.
The Sun does rise to meet my face, to take my gloom from this place.
In the dawn, I hear a voice, a song that gives reason to rejoice.
The warmth of light upon my face does to the cold replace.
For here, I wait and watch the sun, thinking that the night is done.
Songs are sung by the birds, yet they need not a word.
I listen and dream of what a life they sing,
A life of joy and fun exactly how my life had begun.
Basking here in the warmth of rays, thinking of nothing but the days,
Till dusk comes and the cold sets in, for now the misery starts all over again.
