Across the bridge of Time

Across the Bridge of Time
Across the bridge of time, through changes of ice and heat,
We are singing in the wind, chanting and drumming the beat.
Calling to your souls, dancing in your dreams,
Come to us seekers, the world is not what it seems.
Around the fire we gather, watching the embers glow,
Seeing the tomorrows, from yesterdays they flow.
We were gathered by the Old Ones to keep the light alive.
Some of us were tortured, many of us died.
Across the bridge of time, before the fires burned,
When women sang their songs, to their wisdom all were turned.
We sang in joy and pleasure, we danced in circles fire-lit.
Children frolicked happily, into nature all fit.
We honored the Great Mother, the Horned One we revered,
From Them came our plenty, strength, love without fear.
People from the north did come, bringing blood, pain, and their one god.
For him they trampled our villages and put our children ‘neath the sod.
Across the bridge of time, I see those bloody hands,
Tearing down our temples and setting fire to the land.
They gathered all the people, bound them hand to hand.
We were forced to face their god, not the gods of our land.
Those that could did flee, leaving all they knew.
Over the mountains and seas, to freedom they flew.
We settled in strange lands hoping to live in peace,
And honor the Old Ones, to find spirit’s release.
Across the bridge of time, I see the bloody hands
Finding the Hidden Children in the foreign lands.
We died in pain and fire, drowning and in fear,
But we kept the sacred promise, we held our honor dear.
We said our Merry Meets, and Merry Meet again.
For after death we will return, to know and love each friend.
So we hide in the shadows under the full moon round.
We remember the flames and how we were bound.
Across the bridge of time, the Light of Truth prevails,
Neither death or fear can stop it, the Goddess lifts her veil.
We are singing in the wind, chanting and drumming the beat.
And calling to your souls, return to us,
Welcome, Merry Meet!
