i could not bring my passions from a common spring

by Arianna Pendragon
 Age Group: Adult

i said to you, "bring me the sunset in a cup" and you came to me with a daffodil in a coke can.
a butter-golden flower with a cupped center, a shot of magic and mysticism, purity and springtime, and of all the flowers gathered into dirty white tubs against a graffiti-covered wall you said this was the loveliest, a bit of light caught in the rain-soaked, sooty air outside the tube station.
and you brought it to me in the only container that you could find, but it held your love in just the right dimensions.
i said to you, "bring me the sunset in a cup -" and you brought me the smell of a smile.
