Shut your eyes as you pass

my emotions are too bright.
they hurt my eyes like neon colors.
you can't help but blink.
but they are not false, despite the way
they sting your retinas, they are real
this is the exact shade of my misery
the orange the color of safety vests
florescent as the duct tape that holds
security together, or the yellow of caution
that warns, stay away stay away.
do you want to see the car wreck of my heart?
I can show you every dead body,
like wax they are preserved, a museum for your viewing.
no names, we are far too young for that
instead faces made of marzipan, food coloring blue
lips as bright, and aching.
my emotions are edible, easy to destroy
put them in the blender, watch destiny
recreate it's broken body, watch tragedy.
you can't help but blink.
nobody would want to watch this empire crumble.
