Becoming
by Soaring
Age Group: Adult
Willow bark and shining stone,
Sharp of eye and strong of bone,
Thistle plant and tiger claw,
None compare to what I saw,
In the air, so swift of flight,
Soaring through a starry night,
A winged thing of plain black,
Calling for a quick attack,
Down it came, I was willing,
Beautifully, and filling,
Me with such radiant light,
I am so suddenly Might,
Might to search for things unseen,
Might to sense the royal keen,
Might to find the path unknown,
Might to follow and be grown,
Willow bark and shining stone,
Sharp of eye and strong of bone,
Thistle plant and tiger claw,
None compare to what I saw.
Author's Notes: Another slightly confusing work. This was supposed to represent the night I realized I was meant to be Wiccan. I'd been reading about Wicca for a while, but this was when I trully decided I was meant to follow the path. In my mind, this poem does a fabulous job spelling out my moment. Others, however, might have different opinions- which is good! Poetry is art; it should mean something different to each person who reads it.
