Bad Memories
by Soaring
Age Group: Teen
I am ripped sideways,
Falling to the ground,
Landing heavily,
Breath leaves me in a rush,
My body aches.
A hook, pressed into my heart,
Tugs at my feelings,
Making them solid,
Touchable,
Physical,
Opening them to a new form of torture,
A realm of pain I didn't know existed,
A sharp pull, and I am lifted up again,
Gathered by the same thing that brought me down,
Haunted by the memory of the inescapable,
But its not a memory,
Not really,
Not completely,
Because the hook still resides in my chest,
Waiting to be found again,
Longing to be captured once more,
Anticipating the fall,
The hard ground,
The sweeping lift,
And repeat.
When does this cycle end?
Never.
Should it end?
Who is to know,
What should end,
Or what is a beginning,
An experienece to gain something from,
Memories are tools of life,
Gifts of learning,
And without the bad things,
How could we ever recognize the good?
