When the Truth Hurts

The fire of guilt begins to singe the innocence of my soul,
The pain in which I have carried for so long has started to awaken,
Heavy thoughts sift through lies and deception,
And the weight upon my chest is now a heavy burden,
Along with the demon of truth feeding upon my emotions,
It is all to much to carry with in one helpless soul.
Fear is one of the walls keeping me from telling you the truth,
Shame, like a great threshhold to high for me to climb, bards me from my own strength,
Self-hate, another unpleasent obstacle, keeps you from knowing the real me.
The truth within begins to spark, a dim light within the vast emptiness, flickers, weakly on.
And within the distorted reality of my mind, there lies a creature waiting to be unleashed, waiting for its time to feed,
I've held it captive for far to long, it has escaped, I'm no longer in control...
Author's Notes: It's amazing what a pen can do in the sleepy hours of the night. It was kind of weird, but when i woke up the next morning, I couldn't remember writing down those words that lay upon my sheet. This poem has been published, and I have full rights to it. This is by far, one of the greatest and darkest poems I have ever written, and i hope you enjoy it.
