Lost in thought

I sit staring off into space
Remembering a happy time and place
Remembering the laughter not the tears
Those thoughts will stay with me through the years
In my mind I see colors of life
I can see past the pain and strife
I forget the troubles
Laughter floats away like bubbles
Again I am numb to it all
Will someone be there to catch me if I fall?
I find my safe hole to crawl in
My eyes well up and tears begin
I hug myself for protection
I long for the connection
I’m tired of crying
I’m of feeling like I’m dying
Love, welcome me with open arms
Love, make me warm again
Love, fill my heart with gladness
Love, chase away the sadness
Author's Notes: i wrote this poem to describe the ups and downs of the relationship with my ex-girlfriend.
