Mud Pies & Little Girls

Age Group: Adult
Little girls called me to come & play,
But I was too busy to go that day.
To busy w/ dusting, & sweeping to play,
I stayed indoors the entire day.
They made mud pies w/ an artist's flair,
Crimping & edgeing, & shapeing w/ care.
I could hear there squeals of sheer delight,
When a pie turned out to be just right.
The years are many, & the years are long,
Where have those little girls gone?
If they would call to me today,
Never a house could keep me away.
I would gladly join in there play,
And make mud pies through-out the day.
The dusting & sweeping are still there,
But my backyard is silent & bare.
The girls have scattered & gone their way,
No squeals of delight are heard today.
Like the pies they shaped w/ an artists flair,
Their shaping their lives w/ love & care.

Author's Notes: To my girls...always quick w/ a smile you are, how I miss your mud pie days.
Never take for granted those little moments....for soon they are gone & oh' what beautiful memories they can make.
