Daddy, I appreciate your life and lessons-
You've protected me for any reason.
I remember my first date-
You chased him off because we were late.
The day you taught me to drive-
And how we made it out alive.
I let go of the wheel and screamed-
You calmly took over without being mean.
When a project was due in school-
You saved me by making it cool.
When I finally could drive well enough-
You took me without making it tough.
You taught me about the stars-
How to read the signs from afar.
You taught me about nature-
And to look for signs in the weather.
On this Father's Day, I'm sure, I'll write-
Your name upon a candle, I'll light.
I'll be blessed about whom I came from-
And with whom exactly my heart belongs.
