Welcome to Hell

Welcome to hell,
said the girl with the lei;
I’ll show you your room,
follow me, right this way!
The trip isn’t long
as I’m sure you’ll agree;
now don’t wander off,
you stay right here with me!
We’ve plenty of sunshine
but you mustn’t bask;
and lot’s of fresh air
through your oxygen mask.
The hotel is huge!
Lots of places to roam;
just be sure that you don’t
step outside of the dome!
Within you are as safe
as in your own mother’s arms;
we have artificial trees
and hydroponic farms.
But outside you’ll last
only minutes at most!
So relax in the grace
of your generous host!
As you age we’ll repair you
with plastic and spackle;
There is no wear and tear
that is too tough to tackle!
We’ll give you long centuries
between death and birth;
we’ll overextend you
just as we did the earth!
Oh, we can’t have children;
it’s forbidden to try.
the dead ones were lucky;
the rest couldn’t die.
They’re out in the Wastelands
twisted and mutant;
impossible to tell
that they might’ve been human.
Now deadbolt your door,
no telling what they might do
if given the chance
to get in here with you!
If you have any needs
give room service a call.
They’ll fulfill your desires
both the great and the small.
We have on-line access
and e-mail if you please;
personal contact is discouraged;
it spreads nasty disease!
Really small prices to pay,
don’t you think?
For a race that was
so very nearly extinct.
Technology saved us
by ignoring the regs…
but one can’t make an omelet
without breaking some eggs!
So welcome to hell
for I’m certain you know
that there’s no other place
on the earth left to go.
