The Oogie

by Sparrowgael
 Age Group: Adult

"You've gotta get more than just what you can see, " Mom said as she handed my toothbrush to me, then she looked in my mouth and said, "I've found a spot that quite clearly your toothbrush must have forgot!" She stuck in a finger, then poked in her head, she yelled something but I couldn't catch what she said, then she yanked on a molar, and, listen to me! She pulled out an Oogie that was two feet plus three! She pulled and she prodded this five foot long worm, at first it held fast, then it started to squirm, then I felt it let go and I felt it pull free, and then it sat on the floor just looking at me! It lifted its head and it started to smile and Mom said, "well, I guess that's been there for a while!" I looked at the Oogie and then realized it had old, moldy breadcrumbs where it should have had eyes. And the length of the Oogie, all three feet plus two, was all held together by some sort of goo! And the parts and the pieces that made up this snake made my poor stomach turn and my head start to ache. There was frosting and raisins, and jelly and stroudel; pizza and pumpkin and some sort of noodle. Apples and hamburg, some chicken, a pair... long, stringy stuff that looked awfully like hair! Some popcorn, a twinkie, a tart, a tomato, a string bean, a cookie and an old mashed potato! Words seem to fail me as I try to explain it and I couldn't decide, should I kill it or name it? Mom came to the rescue and sent the thing packing then said, "That's why you really must brush after snacking!" Then she leaned in real close and she said without fear, "Alright now dearie, let's look in those ears!"
