If the Rapture comes tomorrow let it come.

I know that I'm no angel
though I've done the best I could;
I only used to be a Christian
but I've still tried to be good.
I know that God/dess loves me
and s/he'd help me if s/he could.
If the Rapture comes tomorrow
let it come.
I've wrestled with my demons
and I've (almost) always won;
I've made my peace with all the things
that cannot be undone.
And through the good times and the bad
you know, I've had a lot of fun.
If the Rapture comes tomorrow
let it come.
My love has been a romance
of the sort the poets tell
and we raised ourselves a family
and we did that very well
so I don't believe a loving god
would banish me to hell.
If the Rapture comes tomorrow
let it come.
I've tried to be respectful
but I always speak my mind
and in every situation
I've attempted to be kind.
I work toward what's ahead of me
not what I've left behind.
If the Rapture comes tomorrow
let it come.
I believe the after life
is a homecoming to Grace
and at such a massive table
I know I will have a place.
And all the Powers that Be
will not hold me in disgrace.
If the Rapture comes tomorrow
let it come.
From Heaven's vantage point
the view is plain to see
and there's no real separation
that's binding you from me
and the peaceful resolution
is to agree to disagree.
If the Rapture comes tomorrow
let it come.
Author's Notes: Well, as I'm sure we all know now, it didn't come on May 18th despite the amount of money spent in advertising to the contrary; now I understand we can expect it on October 21st; and if that fails us, there's always 12/21/12. Still, all the talk and frenzy got me to thinking and here is where my thoughts wandered to. Peace.
