My Gift from the Goddess

Age Group: Adult
Smiling, shining, laughing
whining, crying, angry,
running, jumping, playing,
you are my gift from the Goddess.
Your little fingers closed round mine,
your precious weight leaning on me,
your trusting eyes looking up with love,
you are my gift from the Goddess.
For years and years, I never dared dream,
I was past worthiness, too scarred to nurture,
but She decided it was to be,
because you are my gift from the Goddess.
Can I stop the mistakes from times past?
Will this vicious cycle finally break down?
I have no choice, no option open to me,
because I cannot fail my gift from the Goddess.
So I soldier on when it seems too hard.
When I am afraid for you in this cruel world,
I lead with my heart and offer up thanks
for you, my miraculous gift from the Goddess.

Author's Notes: To my sunshine and life that I never thought could be: MIchael, peanut, I know I'm not perfect, but my love for you goes beyond anything I ever thought I was capable of. You have saved my life in every way possible. If you had not come into my life when you did, I would probably be dead. You were the beginning of our almighty Mother's reclaiming of my life. I will strive every day to be the best mother I can be, for your sake and in Her name. Thank you for teaching me that it IS possible for me to love.
