To those NYers making light of Hurricane Irene...

Have a little humility will you, people?
I've seen over the past few hours so many comments making fun of the damage that didn't occur, ridiculing all the hype surrounding it, all the "nuisance" measures that were taken that turned out to be not fully needed for your area. HOHOHO, F***K IRENE, etc. Do you think you've accomplished something because by mere accident of your physcial location, you were not in a whole lot of danger? Irene decides to gust left or right, she rips off your roof and drowns your children instead of just knocking out your power - you think your smug cock-sure attitude had a thing to do with that? Irene has taken 22 people and who knows how many animals so far. Homes and businesses have been lost, the flooding in Jersey will worsen throughout the week, the financial toll alone could top $7 billion.
Be GRATEFUL you and yours are all right, and spare a thought for those who are NOT all right. To paraphrase George Carlin, when this planet is ready she will "shake us off like a bad case of fleas." Be happy today was not that day.
Rant over. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program...
