Conflicted

How can I say no, when he seems so damn sincere?
I'd hate to break his heart, to make him shed a single tear.
I know just what he's waiting for, and the answer he wants to hear,
How he wants to be my Valentine every single year.
I know he wants to ease my pain - to comfort me and hold me near.
I know that he would treat me well, so what is it I fear?
But, how can I say yes, when something's pulling me away?
He wants so much to be with me, so why don't I just stay?
What is there to think about? What's standing in the way?
I've no good reason to quit the game, so why won't I just play?
If the train's in the station, ready to leave, then what's the big delay?
My heart is too big to tell my brain to let me say what I need to say.
It seems I'm addicted to being conflicted,
And as time passes by,
The harder I try to make-up my mind,
The more I want to cry.
