Moonlight Sonnet

Beyond the clouds, coming, going, coming,
Now parting for a spell, the full moon shines,
Like a goddess or enchantress stunning
Us with magic heavenly, yes, divine!
Moon Lady, how you are perfectly great
In helping me to know that I am not,
But rather subject to the force of fate
And wise to give thanks for what boons I got.
Although we might face losses and feel sad,
Never may you be just a rock in space,
For when we gaze at you, may we feel glad
To find in you an old, familiar face!
Old gods, grant us the wisdom to attune
Our lives to the phases of Lady Moon.
