FEED THAT CAT!

This message is dying to be told:
Most arguments can wait!
We are not a mean dog to bite fast,
Nor are our jaws that great!
We are meant for friendship kept steadfast,
Not pitched nearly on whim,
Not like cats that, chasing on the spur,
End up on one thin limb.
Thoughtless tongues may hurt us like a spur;
We want to scratch and bite.
Bite your tongue, and find that the offense
Was hardly worth a fight.
With neighbors as with lands, Prudence proves:
Rarely must deeds spell war.
More often, the party which best loves
Is that which well ignores!
The good will can be quite bewitching,
In working very well
As a balm to allay the itching
To send someone to Hell.
Fighting like cats and dogs rarely pays;
Let cats get spiteful tongues!
If only we wait for wrath to pass,
Better songs might get sung.
