The Lesson of the Scorpions

I am quite a Scorpio, so trust me:
Scorpions have two pincers, not just one sting.
Just picture them presenting offerings
To challenge the conscience of anyone!
The same things, which make the theft sting for us,
Make it fun for thieves, the treating tempters!
Both we and they have these little scorpions
Growing inside us, weaknesses which tempt.
Whether or not we can resist their treats,
Life surely has enough stings left to give!
Why give scorpions our hearts in which to live?
Let us not seek objects which thieves can steal,
To give our aching hearts the means to heal
And make room inside us for strengths to grow.
