Oceana!

The earthbound creatures which we are, will we
Ever capture the feel of the ocean?
Never, thinking we can do anything!
Who can aspire to grasp eternity?
Surely not creatures as mortal as man,
Born to die, yet heavenward still reaching!
Our little lives are but mere drops to join
The water of the vastness of the sea.
Little do we know our ultimate end,
But endlessly we count coin after coin
As the means to our own security.
What is life without causes to defend?
Little do we have, within the bounds of
Ourselves. Great Oceana, praised be thou,
Oh Spirit of the ocean so worshipped!
Rise high, Oh Tide of spiritual love!
What enchantment Oceana endows,
A magical respite from life's sad trip!
