The Aeolian harp

Vain man, you think you have created me,
The Aeolian harp, to give you joys
Alone, and nothing more? I have MY voice!
When the vernal breeze blows, I sing of Spring,
With renewed passion in my every string!
Do note how I, with the greatest of ease,
Accompany the singing in the trees!
Listen, when I whisper of the Summer,
Capturing the mood of those who ponder,
Lying on their backs watching clouds drift by,
How everything must change and sometime die.
In Fall, I sing of the harvest you have,
Whether you are glad or ever so sad.
When Winter comes, think not that when you hide
Me in your closet, my voice is denied!
The magic of midnight might move me well
To make the music of my sharp strings swell.
Oh vain man, how dare you to strum my strings
And deny my voice! Just for that, I sing
My haunting notes, to tear your heart apart
With ghostly works of melancholy art!
Know that I am - the Aeolian harp!
