The Tree of Life

Age Group: Adult
When I was a child, I could climb a tree
And thus be as carefree as a monkey.
That type of monkey is endangered now.
Just dare to let a child climb these days! Pow!
Here come the cops, for child endangering!
They might add on a charge of threatening
The limbs of a tree, like plucking feathers
From an eagle! What a hard endeavor
It has become to get to know Nature!
Hardly can we be her friendly neighbors.
It takes such magic inorder to pass
Through the barriers of protective glass!
I much prefer the times when I was small.
I could climb trees. We all would risk the fall.
If you did, most likely you would not die.
Even if you did, that came with the dice
To be tossed in the game called Life. Living,
I therefore love the Life Force, creating,
And using death to let the game go on.
Now, shunning death, so much of life is gone.
