An Odd God

I had the saddest dream! The Lord our sun
Refused to be the Lord, but wore a gown
Blindingly bright, and turned all upside down!
"I am the Lady, " she said, "to give birth.
I will endure that the father be Earth."
And yet she would not dance the dance of love
Around her Lord, but rather stayed aloof
And let Earth dance around her, his odd bride!
She scoffed, "There is no magic." Thus she moved,
Just along those grooves unscientific,
In apparent motion from east to west
With aberrant emotion, most depressed,
All this for the coldest reason: because
Of immutable, scientific laws.
Sad indeed was the ending! His odd bride,
Thus trapped alone, committed suicide.
