Awake or Asleep,

Age Group: Adult
There is no better place to work and dream
Than beside the banks of protected streams.
Indeed, I could let half of the day pass
While listening to the crickets in tall grass!
Individual "cri-cket" sounds blend in
With all the rest far and wide, thus sending
This hum over the whole face of the field!
Both mind and body feel refreshed and healed,
The intellect refined to the wisdom
Of respecting the force behind the hum.
How foolishly the will of man destroys
The music of the nature with the noise!
Good is - working even with foolishness,
With good will as the measure of success!
I may well face the inexorable.
So be it! The best that I am able,
This way shall the hum of the crickets be
A lively echo of eternity.
