Thus Works Love

I stand at the threshold looking forward,
When suddenly comes a sound clearly heard
By other people, as if something fell
In the adjacent room, but all is well.
Have the ghosts of my friends come, to remind
Me of the happy times we shared, and bind
Me ever closer? "Please forget us not!"
This message comes breaking into my thought.
Thus works love, as an everlasting force
Which accompanies us on any course.
Oh yes, my friends, I shall remember you!
To where I go, there your spirits go too!
Always I shall cherish your utmost love!
You move me to tears, as true friends do move!
