Dear People of Any Faith,

Age Group: Adult
I put Mother Earth on a pedestal
At the heart of everything. In return,
I got promises of something special
To be done by me, if only I learn.
So I am learning to write poetry
Worth your reading. It takes ceaseless practice!
Should I risk the nightmare? Let the dream be!
Chances are at the heart of what life is,
Just as the question is, not how things are,
But how we make them be, whether we let
Our sun be one more among countless stars,
Or the godlike wonder of a sunset,
Whether we let our Mother be one more
Planet, or Gaia, this ground, that ocean
Reflecting the sunset beside this shore.
Seen this way, how trivial becomes man!
Pagan, Jewish, Buddhist, Rationalist,
None of us can monopolize the truth.
The measure of all religions is this:
Their capacity to strengthen and soothe.
The third eye: may this be the symbol of
This majestic Earth on which we unite
In the spirit of universal love.
May She grant us insight to make all right!
