Irresponsibility, this long word,
Often is the story of starving birds.
The poor quite often are people who think
They can pass on taking baths - and not stink!
They tend to think, "I win, if I can steal",
Not even dreaming that work gets the deals!
They think they can get something for nothing,
While equating poverty with giving;
They waste money on lottery tickets
And forget: charity is the best bet.
People fixed in their ways, who do not give,
Have trouble doing what it takes to live.
Passing on virtue in favor of vice,
One way or another, involves some price.
Follow this maxim and thus win the prize:
To work, and do kind deeds is to be wise.
Give, and you win at least a conscience clear
Enough to live your life happily here.
