Mama! Milk!

Oh Science, how I wonder what you are!
I know, I know, how you explain the stars,
Their shining, why some of them keep shooting,
And more and more about just anything
Which I might pick. But what are YOU? Tell me
Truly, please! That is the real mystery!
Are you the books explaining the world wide
And far alone, or also what might hide
In a grain of sand, besides molecules?
Do you even know of the needed tools?
Do I want to know? Is ignorance bliss?
Whatever else you are, I do know this:
The words you use, to express what you know,
Also make the lines of poetry go.
Your polysyllabic words, going quick,
Mix with the short, slow words - to work magic!
Scientific words go as fast as hares,
But PLAIN words lighten heaviest despair.
