Love 101

Simplicity is genius at its best.
It takes more gifts to teach some children well
Than teaching medical students at Yale.
What charms it takes sometimes, to arouse zest
For learning, like casting a loving spell!
With such teaching, the children cannot fail!
To love to learn, they must first learn to love.
That is the greater part of sound teaching.
If children lack the power to be moved,
Why should they move, and waste effort reaching?
Learning to love must involve relating.
Loving anything rarely is abstract:
Who ever loved another living thing
Through merely learning scientific facts?
Something displayed beyond our sense of touch,
Among our true values, does not count much.
