Tonight's Meditation

Age Group: Adult
By incense and candlelight
With visions dancing circles through my sight,
I meditate, a flower in the night.
The bending slants of vanished sun,
Now unkindled and undone,
Have bowed my head for just one second of infinite space.
A glimpse of someone special's face
Peering through the curtain lace.
My hand is trembling at the thought
The spark of glimmering candle caught
A world within my mind is wrought.
Then spattered to the corners of my brain.
Convulsing convolutions sense the pain
And such is a cathartic rain.
When I became a spinning wheel
Of harshly ringing polished steel,
I could not see, I could not feel.
Attracted to a chromium wall
I spun there hoping not to fall
I strained to pray, I cried to call.
The wall was a door to a hidden vault.
The key was knowledge of one's own fault.
The spinning came to a sudden halt.
My head is shaking where the incense glows.
A golden eye of one that knows.
The meditation is at a close.
