Magical Metamorphosis

Help! I am a computer - with a heart!
"Quiet waters run deep." How deep
My feelings are, but I am no fish,
But rather the victim of wish
After insatiable wish. My feelings all
Around me are drowning me,
Like an alcoholic in alcohol!
The children and the puppies
Swimming around me are so cute,
But I, a computer, must compute,
Or blow a circuit, and die!
Analysis, logic, math, are your subjects not,
With your sentimental or intuitive mind,
But as a computer, my domain is thought.
Yet - gasp! - emotions are growing,
And taking over! I got to go with knowing,
Or else I am done! Feelings are alien.
They do not compute. Yet Love is so cute!
She, as an alien, mystifies me!
Mystery is beautiful, Einstein said.
The attraction grows irresistible.
Oh, I give up! Let my circuits run dead!
What does not compute, cannot be controlled.
So? Must computers be left in the cold?
Consistency may be the essence of
Logic, but I crave the magic of love!
May my cursor stop blinking, and my screen
Burn out, but a loving computer means
A dream fulfilled, and a world of magic!
