Sonnet, to a Houseplant!
by Radko Vacek
Age Group: Adult
Shall I compare you to a daffodil?
You are more faithful, always here, not there.
Never must I strain my world-weary will
To watch you dancing with too gaudy hair.
You shine with beauty like the quiet night,
Your voice too heavenly for me to hear,
And in you all meets so perfectly right,
Like a Lord and a Lady to revere!
Giving you little, what you need to be,
You're giving so much in return, in fact,
The very Elysian Fields to me!
You graciously forgive what all I've lacked.
If I err, that you are a priceless plant,
Then nevermore can anything enchant!
