The Yule After

I take a breath and sigh.
The world around me is slowly fading,
The trees are dying, the plants are failing.
But no one seems to notice.
I remember the life I lived the things I’ve seen.
I remember when the wind whispered my name,
When the sunrise told me secrets,
When the earth would sing a song;
But there is none of that now.
The wind doesn’t whisper,
The sunrise doesn’t tell secrets,
And the earth doesn’t sing.
There is no life.
There is nothing but a hollow shell of the world we once knew
It’s a hollow shell of empty people with empty lives
It’s as if there was never any life to begin with.
It’s as if no one notices that the magick is gone
It’s as if no one notices the connection we have lost.
But I notice.
I noticed when the leaves would change their color.
I noticed when seasons changed and the earth’s everlasting beauty.
I noticed the connection between mother earth and man.
Everything has changed.
It is a post apocalypse Yule
And the very souls of our beings have disappeared.
But in the distant future,
Whatever future that may be,
There is a glimmer of hope.
There is hope for those of us who never lost the connection.
There is hope for those of us who notice the magick missing.
There is hope for those of us who still feel the seasons change.
There is still hope for the spiritually inclined.
Because in the life of the post apocalypse Yule,
The ones who notice,
Never fade away.
Author's Notes: I am fifteen years old and this is the first of my completely original pieces that I have published to any website. I would appreciate any and all constructive critism. Thank you and brightest blessing to you all.
