Zest of Life

by Phronesus Disegno
 Age Group: Adult

Personally, I think there can be no shame in Requesting occasional medical assistance to Overcome certain issues, like Calculus finals... Zest of life has always been a personal decision, And with a little common sense, quite achievable. Can you find my prescription hidden in this poem?
Author's Notes: Written by me circa 1989, during the stressful days of my college years, and right around when the prescription was first introduced. Hint: Look at the first letter of each line. :-)
I know, it's sorta weird to write a poem about an antidepressant. But hey, I can't turn back now that I have already written a poem on this forum about my backside, and anyway the antidepressant helped me get through those dreaded Calculus finals without going completely berserk.*
I think enduring three courses in Calculus, and all the while avoiding being admitted into a mental hospital, is probably among the greatest of Magickal acts I ever performed in my entire life. ;-)
* Since I have your attention on this subject, I thought it would be interesting and perhaps somewhat humorous to include here the word history of "berserk" from dictionary.reference.com: When we say that we are going berserk, we may not realize how extreme a state this might be. Our adjective comes from the noun berserker, or berserk, which is from the Old Norse word berserkr, "a wild warrior or champion." Such warriors wore hides of bears, which explains the probable origin of berserkr as a compound of bera, "bear, " and serkr, "shirt, coat." These berserkers became frenzied in battle, howling like animals, foaming at the mouth, and biting the edges of their iron shields. Berserker is first recorded in English in the early 19th century, long after these wild warriors ceased to exist.
