Vision

Are you truly the one I saw in my vision –
The one I have waited lifetimes
To love, to cherish?
What do I know of love?
I mocked the idea,
Broke heart after heart
And was untouched,
Unmoved by tears,
Unmoved by my own tears.
Shaking my fist at the sky
Crying out that Woman
Was nothing but a thorn
In man’s side
From the time Eve was ripped from Adam.
The moral, I thought in my youth,
Was that you would always be betrayed
By yourself, your other half.
But now
Having been touched for the first time
I see and feel the rememberance.
I have not poured out this soul
For what seems like eons.
I do now not in anguish or pain
But complete, youthful, vibrant, flexible,
Knowing, feeling, seeing.
My eyes shut for so very long.
I was attuned to the gentleness and compassion
That is you.
I can quit doubting myself now
Because no matter what direction,
With you, Or without you,
You are here.
I still feel your lips,
The touch of your fingertips,
Caressing, teasing me,
No matter where I go,
No matter where you are.
I will be home.
