Not the white, plain
Like Jane you dismiss
No saltine
Salty and bland
I AM a colored girl
My brown delicate
Like clear water longing
Dreaming sand and
Sunny memories
I AM a colored girl
My tears, too, glitter
Like crystal rainbows
Bouncing moon drops
Soft and slow
I AM a colored girl
My heartbeat booming
Like feet stomping stairs
On ardent flights
Eager for love
I AM a colored girl
