My Heart

My heart knows me better than I know myself...
It can do the things I cannot-
My heart can scream in anger...
I have to be sweet and silent-
My heart can shatter and break into a million pieces...
I have to hold it all together...stand strong and firm-
My heart can sob gut wrenching sobs that reach the very pits of my soul...
I have to wear this stupid mask of a smile; my makeup of happiness painted on my face-
My heart can ache longingly for just a small morsel of true and lasting love-
I have to look like all is well while love gives itself to everyone but me.
