Drug induced imaginary world

by Blanche Magee
 Age Group: Adult

Once upon a time in a far off land lived a happy little girl. Her parents kept her sheltered from the evils of the world so she grew up naive to suffering and heartache. She was not a snobby little girl and appreciated all that was given to her, but knew nothing of hunger and poverty.
As the little girl grew up and went out into the world it was big and scary and she did not understand what she saw before her daily – Hunger, poverty, anger & bitterness were all around the little girl. So as not to face the ugliness of the world the little girl built a new world inside her head that was free from worldly suffering. She stayed in her world for a long time and was content to move about without really taking in all the pain around her.
In the midst of all this she managed to get married and traveled to many areas. She knew nothing of real suffering until one day her husband informed her he wanted a divorce. Oh my thought the little girl my perfect world is shattered.
In the midst of her pain she found she could escape to her imaginary world full of nonsense and happiness. She found that if she came back to the world the pain was to great to bare so she would stay locked up tight in her fake world.
One day she met a boy who also was in his own little world and somehow they enjoyed each others company and shared space together but still could travel to their little worlds apart.
After many months the boy wanted to travel to the little girl’s world with her, but she was unwilling to trust him to come and not mess it up and he was unwilling to let her travel to his as well. She thought maybe we should just spend time in this world together even though it is painful and hard and maybe someday we can travel to each others worlds with trust. The boy agreed and many months they would spend time together in the painful world but every once in a while one would have to escape for a while and return when able to handle the pain.
Slowly but surely more and more time was spent in the painful world together that it was not as painful anymore and they found they created a joyful world together. The imaginary world is still out there but neither girl nor boy has felt the need to return to it in sometime now.
