~In The Morning Mist~

~In The Morning Mist~
Morning mist fills the moor and shore, a breath quiet is heard. To tell this in words aloud, you would think that I am absurd. A noise of leaves underfoot, trod upon light and free. There catching the light of day, a unicorn I can see. Regal as the mountains, standing in glory of the mist. Wrapped around his crowned horn, a mane of white so brisk. Muscular fletch and
nodding me, back to my hiding place. I gazed upon his glory, my heart at a furys pace. A cool drink of the pond, he watches me looking on. I closed my eyes to clear my head , then opened, and he was gone. I visit the moor and shore there, and drink from this sacred pond. Remembering the sight I saw, and sharing his sacred bond... Author's Notes: This was written to remind me of a sacred deer hunt I went on in 2000. I was hunting in the Texas woods and was set up near a spring fed pond. It was then that I saw a spike deer that had on it one horn in the form of a spike in center of his head. Obviously an anomaly of nature. I let my mind wonder that this might be a near cousin of a real unicorn and got wrapped up in this fantasy sighting. In fact, I should of culled this deer from the heard to strengthen the genes of the heard and to weed out such abnormalities, but when I closed my eyes and came to my senses he was gone...or was he ever actually there?
