Prayer

Age Group: Adult
Green sprigs curling through dark soil,
Testament to the waking world.
Wake the land through careful toil,
And make new again what was old.
Summer brings the heady times
Whilst the bees sing merrily about.
Never ending the dancing rhymes
And plants have grown ripe and stout.
Till the coolness brushes the green
Bringing flames that burn no woods.
Gather in the harvest’s glean
And settle ‘neath woolen hoods.
Cold carried in Winter’s grasp
The world sleeps once again,
Waiting for Spring’s first rasp
And the year’s first new gain.
So the wheel turns ever more
Guiding the people through dark and light.
We live by the season’s as before
And trace the path, dancing our rite.
May we always walk
With the Goddess and Mother
May we also hear and talk,
With the God and Protector.
Watch over me and mine
As we seek our true ways
And bless us with the divine,
Your gifts return as yesterday’s.
We turn once more to the olden paths
Seeking what was, and what will be.
Knowing our lives have been but halves
Of what they should thus be.
Bless us, I beg of the Light
And lead us once more aright.
I seek my way, through pain and fright
And long to find my wings aflight.
So mote it be.

Author's Notes: I haven't posted a poem in a long time... So I thought I'd do one right now... And I don't think I had done one that was necessarily a prayer before. So this is an attempt... Let me know if you like it!
