Oh Raven

Caw, Caw, Swish
Caw, Caw, Swish
Dark wing raven begins the call
Perched on my sill
Seen after surgery
Caw, Caw, Swish-zoom, swoon
Messenger of other worlds
What are you telling me-swish-zoom
against the blue, against the white of the sky
Your large black wings soaring
your massive beak bobbling
back and forth, very fast
bop, bop, bop
back and forth very fast
To a rhythm; your wisdom only knows
I answer you back with a caw, caw, caw, swish, zoom
Seeking to know what you hold dear
Are you a king?
Messenger of other worlds, are you an assassin?
Messenger of the Underworld
seeking to hunt for whatever is near
Oh Raven
Oh Raven
Tell me of your mysteries of the soul
Against the blue and the white of the sky
Author's Notes: I originally wrote this in 1999 after having a miscarriage, however, I was awaken to a raven's call.
I thought it would be a good time to post this poem
