With Eyes Wide Shut
by Raven of Hope
Age Group: Teen
On beautiful flowers the madmen stomp,
Their soles covered in evil thick as a swamp.
Oh, the men will never accept
That others have beliefs they’ve kept.
Grinning pumpkins, creepy kooks,
Are so much more than they look.
See behind what you believe
To change the ideas you’ve conceived.
On brooms in moonlight witches fly,
Traipsing through the midnight sky.
One night a year their true selves you’ll meet,
While every day their facades you’ll greet.
Author's Notes: I had to write a Halloween poem for English class incorporating the phrase "beautiful flowers." Thus this was born. ^^
