Soul Friend

I hate to look into your eyes
Only to see the sky
It was once a bright summer blue
Now it’s only a reflection of shadow within you
Gone are the days of carefree laughter
Now is the time to wonder the factors
War, came and gone, has left its mark
Your soul rendered, your life lost the spark
A touch of sadness to my smile
If only you knew I would walk that mile
Time and again, you stand there
Over the grave, the headstone lain bare
I can never replace him, wife that I am
The love you two had, you and your soul friend
Author's Notes: I don't know if I was just being creative or channeling, but this hasn't happened to me... yet. However, I would like to dedicate this to those who have truly lost.
