Homecoming

Age Group: Adult
Riding the waves
The winds my guides
Cresting the foam
No land in sight
Anxious, I pace
My mind goes numb
Restless and caged
Yet finally, I come
Homeward bound
My ship cuts fast
The day draws near
When home at last
Through the seasons
Clouds loom tall
Departed in winter
Come home in fall
A year passed
Things have changed
But my home
Remains the same
Arms opened wide
You’ll beckon me
You on the pier
And me from the sea
Author's Notes: Slowly but surely I am on my way home from a long time at sea. Too bad nobody will be waiting for me on the pier. I have to work the day we pull in, and thus won't get off till the next day. But that's alright.
