Dragon Love - Part 1a

by Rose'Ena Tanu
 Age Group: Adult

I feel it coming but, What it is I do not know. At first. It’s landing causes the ground to rumble. I do not need to turn To see what has settled behind me. For I already know what it is. It speaks in my mind; A voice, pure and melodic, That sends ripples through my person. My heart feels its touch And I long for more. As if my body is no longer mine, I turn And I cannot help but stare At the source of that wonderful voice. The opalescent eye Whirls in glowing hues: Blue, green, purple, gold. Finally, I notice the man. Tall, sun-darkened, slim But even he appears a dwarf Next to his giant, bronze mount. One hand, ungloved, Rests on the winged animal’s forearm. We lock eyes, His showing surprise at finding me; Mine wide in wonder, Drinking in the site of him. I lose myself In his glittering golden eyes. Drunk and dizzy with that sight, I look at the rest of him. His body seems to be completely encased In a tan, leather-like suit. His arms and legs Are tightly limed by the material. He holds out his hand and, For some reason I do not know, I take hold of his strong, long Fingers and wide palm. He then grabs my waist. Then he turns and, With the bronze one’s aid, Tosses me up High on the shoulder of the beast. Muscles ripple under The amazingly soft hide. The man swings up with the ease Of someone long used To such activity and He settles himself between The last two ridges of his mount’s angled neck. Twisting around to help me, He positions me directly behind himself. I loosely hang onto his wide belt. That is, Until the giant animal jumps skyward! In fright, I manage To wrap my arms around His slender waist, trembling. Pressure pulls me down. We circle, higher and higher! The ground falls away and The people watching us Vanish, shrunk to tiny specks. Then, nothingness engulfs us! Blackness impenetrable and cold Closes in as we hover between worlds. No sound, no light, no feeling; Nothing can survive there for long. I cannot hear or see. Even the powerful neck I am perched upon, cannot be felt. I cannot breath, but I somehow do not cry out. Just as suddenly as the blackness ensued, It ends.

Author's Notes: Ok... This is actually the first about page and a half of a 15 page two-part piece I've worked on for the past several years. Since I wrote it, I have discovered that what I thought was a dream actually happens, somewhere I've been, once, long ago. So this is kind of a private vision/memory I actually managed to write down. I've been debating with myself as to whether or not I wanted to post it. So I thought, why not let others who might read this tell me if they are interested in seeing the rest? Those few who have seen it in total say they like it. And if you happen to have a question about it or anything, feel free to ask me. If I can, I'll answer.
As I'm sure many have figured out, I don't follow any real poetic form. I just write how I feel it should be written. This probably makes my stuff kind of hard to follow. But like I said, I'll explain what I can if anyone asks. And if you are interested in reading the rest, I'm considering putting it up... I'm just waiting to see what kind of response I get first...
