Finding Self

Age Group: Adult
A question haunts my dreams:
What am I,
And what should I be?
I change per the moon,
I dance for the stars,
Yet still the true self
Remains misted,
Indistinct.
One moment,
Feline.
The next,
Dragon.
Yet still another,
Fae.
Trees blend to streams,
Clouds float into flames.
Brown eyes,
Gold eyes,
Green, blue,
Even purple.
Hair that changes shades,
From deep chocolate
To brightest gold
And bloodiest crimson.
So many differences,
So rarely the same.
So what should I be?
Which part
Or which blend
Is the true me?
I quest the paths
Of my different forms.
Seeking that self
I have yet to know.
These steps will take time,
That at least I know.
My spirit is old,
While my body is young.
I know not how long it will take,
Or if I will even succeed.
But I do realize
That once I finish
I will know
Me,
My self.

Author's Notes: *chuckle* Alright, yes, I'm admitting that I really don't know myself very well. Especially since I started coming into my abilities this strongly. I am troubled by this uncertainity, but I know one day, I'll figure it out. There are so many things I have to learn before I do, but someday, this mist will part and I'll see what is supposed to be. I think just about everyone goes through this kind of thing... It just depends on the person as to how they go through it, or how strongly. If anyone else is dealing with this, good luck to you! Blessed be, all of you! May you know what you are and what you are supposed to do before it comes to suddenly!
