Life's Race

Age Group: Adult
Start at the beginning, begin at the start.
Run your life as you should.
Do it your way.
Push through the tangles,
Cut back the brambles.
Do not let the thorns stop you.
Use the sword of your heart
To win the race of life.
Call down your ancient ancestors.
Let them guide you to your place.
Run the path before you
For all your time here must be spent.
For good or bad, it’s your own choice.
Choose wisely, peace awaits.
Choose poorly, torment calls.
Answer your heart.
Let it and the spirits of old
Lead you to where you and I
Shall be when breathe leaves.

Author's Notes: This is one of several poems I unearthed while looking through some of my stuff… I wrote them back when I was in middle school and in high school. Reading over them again, I can see some of the same messages that I write today. And I see that some of these, I was writing things I did not understand… then. Since coming into what I am, I can see the magic speaking through these rather childish words. Amazing how things seem to repeat, isn’t it?
Mayhap I should take these words to heart, eh? Life and death are both necessary... But either will come when it's time for it. Don't rush it any faster than it needs of its own will.
