Man or Cat

Age Group: Adult
Eyes of gold, flash to green.
A streak of sound and light.
Nowhere to be seen
Is the hunter of the night.
Look but find not.
A ghost of white
Or brown,
Or black.
A yowl of sound,
Like the voices of two but only one.
A cry in the dark
Calling to the unknown.
Vanish again ghost or dream
Of the darkness.
Disappear when dawn
Opens its eyes so bright.
Only to return when dusk fades,
Once again into night.

Author's Notes: This is one of several poems I unearthed while looking through some of my stuff… I wrote them back when I was in middle school and in high school. Reading over them again, I can see some of the same messages that I write today. And I see that some of these, I was writing things I did not understand… then. Since coming into what I am, I can see the magic speaking through these rather childish words. Amazing how things seem to repeat, isn’t it?
Here's those blasted golden eyes again! *shakes head* But now I understand why I've always been so close to cats... Since I have Tiger and Panther both in me... And both have golden eyes... Just like mine turn when I get angry... Oh, better run if ever you see that... Cause that's when I could hurt someone... *shudders*
