Sunset

Daylight fades.
Clouds gather round,
The bright orb burns red,
And slowly slips under the horizon’s edge.
Yellow to orange to red,
Colors blend and change.
Dye the clouds from
Gold to purple and pink.
Fading away,
Red to gray.
Soon all colors gone.
Fading all to black
Stars shine, pinpoints of bright
Nothing compared to a full moon,
Dwarfing all to dimness.
Close your eyes.
Eternal sleep so sweet,
Feel nothing, hear nothing.
All is darkness
And Luna watches over all.

Author's Notes: This is one of several more poems I found. When I wrote them, I’m not sure. Probably before I was taken out of that school in New Jersey where I almost lost my hold on this world. Possibly as reflections once I was out of there, remembering what happened to me there. I can’t remember and I didn’t date them. Some of them are pretty, some aren’t, some are obvious attempts to imitate some style I must have been either studying or interested in at the time. If you wish to comment, don’t hesitate to do so.
What's to say? There is this place in New Jersey, just a few miles from the Deleware Water Gap, where at a certain time of year, the sun sets in a blaze right in the Gap... You can see it from a "scenic overlook" placed just right. Everything nearby is the Appalachain Mountains, covered in pines and other trees. The only signs of man are a white farmhouse in a clearing and the tail lights of cars going through the Gap... I always wanted a picture of that... Never got one... *sigh*
